A Nugget on Design, Nothing Special
Lately, I've been surfing Design*Sponge just to see all of the design houses she showcases.
For the most part, I'm not really sure why so many people are interested in neo-mod items. Stuff that was hand-picked from the Austin Powers movie sets. But that's just me, I'm a big-time traditionalist when it comes to design. I like luxe fabrics and dark woods. Which is not to say that I haven't perused Ikea and seen things that I like; I just think some of the nouveau designs are ugly.
I think my latent interest in design comes from my father, who would have been in some sort of design capacity. So, I sent him Design*Sponge, which I'm figuring he likes.
Recently, I've had the art/design bug bite me big time. I didn't figure that I was never going to do art again, but the possibility of me picking up art has dwindled over the years since I left the art department. But, my design clock has been ticking and I've been surfing craft and design blogs like mad.
I'm starting work on a jewelry collection that I'll start working on over spring break. I'm still looking for a name for my business, so if you have any ideas let me know.
So far...
.: MorningStar [one word]
.: North Star
.: Sweet Opium
.: Juliary [with speed pronounced "jewelry"
I haven't thought of anything else. If you come up with something, let me know.
