Butch Catastrophe and the Conjunctivitis Kid
For the last few days, I have been unable to see in my left eye. Not blackness, which The Boy indicated was a Bad Thing but just blurriness. This happens: I am on Accutane, I wear contacts, and I rub my eyes. I'm okay with blurriness.
But, the annoying thing is was that this was noticeable and persistant. I couldn't just rub it away, nor could I blink it out. It has gotten to the point where it was throwing off my vision. I could see out of one eye, but the other I couldn't. With both eyes open, it was like having halo vision. It sucked.
It got to the point where I leaned over to my friend in Accounting and asked, "Is the overhead blurry to you?" And she said, "Um...no?"
I knew I couldn't wait to see a doctor any longer. Or, at least it reinforced my mom's notion to go see one.
I'm not saying that our school's death unit health center is where you want to go for all that ails you, but it's good in a pinch. The woman who saw me was very nice and personable, which is always a plus.
Long and short of it is, I may (or may not) have conjunctivitis.
I know: I'm like that kid with the oozy eye that your mom warned you not to share toys with...
Not so much. Apparently, you can have different forms of conjuctivitis that don't involve ostracision by your peers. I'm not entirely convinced of her rationale, but there is a film over both of my eyes. This could be because they are dried-out from the Accutane, or because I have an upper respiratory infection complete with viral crappines (oh yes, I was diagnosed with a respiratory infection).
I have an oinment for my eye with antibiotics in it ("It's not going to help if there's a virus, but it will keep your eyes moist.") This stuff is basically Neosporin for your eyes. It makes the vision issue worse, but somehow is supposed to make it better. If there are signs that my eye is not getting better, I'm supposed to go back to the health center so I don't go blind.
I figure it falling out might be one of those signs.

So, plans for the weekend are as follows:
Haunted corn maze
Pumpkin picking
Pumpkin carving
Movie (North Country> if the Hay Maze gets rained out
Mellow Autumn nothingness
My parents are in Pennsylvania this weekend, so I might run home for the rest of my warm clothing. I'm kind of annoyed at not having my fuzzy sockies.
